The Rear-Lights

Before

Initially we thought about only replacing the screws that hold the glass onto the body. But when looker closer we found that the rear lights desire a complete overhauling:
  • The glasses were a bit dull after the year
  • The sealing was decomposing
  • The body was corroding and smeared with paint
  • The reflectors were also a bit dull (but otherwise in good shape
  • The lamp holders were corroded and dirty
  • The wiring was oily and dirty
  • Complete Disassembly

After

So we decided to completely disassembled them, send and polish and repaint them.
  • The sanding was done with a wire brush mounted on a drilling machine at low RPM
  • We used Brantho Korrux 3in1 spray "Glitzer Silber" BK096 for the body
  • The reflectors have been polished with Autosol Metal Polish and Ako
  • The upright standing separator are now screwed into place (instead of using blind rivets
  • The wiring has been treated with Aldi's Grillreiniger (BBQ Grill Cleanser) which works astoundingly good)
  • The glasses have been polished by hand with a regular plastic polish that is also used to refurbish plastic front lights.
  • New rubber sealing, purchased from Auto Simon.
